Workforce Pathways for Youth Grant Program
About
The U.S. Department of Labor awarded four rounds of Workforce Pathways for Youth grants. National Out-of-School Time organizations received funding to expand local work readiness programs, job training, and workforce pathways for youth. Their local affiliates support workforce development activities around the country.
These grants connect traditional Out-of-School Time organizations and programming with career-related activities that prepare youth to enter the workforce.
The Workforce Pathways for Youth (WPY) program expands job training and workforce activities for youth, including soft-skill development, career exploration, job readiness and certification, summer jobs, year-round job opportunities and apprenticeships in out-of-school time organizations nationwide.
The program allows out-of-school time organizations to partner with local workforce boards and youth-serving organizations, bridging the gap between their existing activities and the need to expose youth to career-related services to better prepare them to enter the workforce.
