Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System data available
About
CDC’s Division of Adolescent and School Health released the 2019 Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) results from 78 districts across the country. This year’s release includes results from the national survey and surveys from 44 states, 28 local school districts, three territories and two tribal governments.
This represents the largest release in our 30-year history. For the first time we are also releasing results within a Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report Supplement on the 2019 National Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS). This nine-part supplement provides the most recent surveillance data on prevalent and emerging health behaviors and experiences among U.S. high school students.
The 2019 YRBS data will stand as an important pre-COVID-19 snapshot of the health of American youth. It will serve as a baseline for years to come as we understand the impact of COVID-19 and help adolescents recover from the effects of the pandemic.
For more information about the 2019 YRBS results and additional YRBS tools and resources, please visit the YRBS website. Please note that in late September we will publish our second YRBS Data Summary and Trends report, which examines ten year trends in the areas of adolescent mental health and suicide risk, sexual behavior, substance use and experience of violence, in September 2020.
